 Fire destroys part of Bella-Veneet Oy's production plant at Leväsentie, Kuopio
Fire broke out yesterday evening at Bella-Veneet Oy's Leväsentie production premises in Kuopio where more than 1000 square meters of production facilities were destroyed. The factory in question produces two Bella models, i.e. the Falcon 26 Fantino and the Bella 620 DC. The fire broke out at 1700 hours at which time there were no workers in the factory. Nobody was injured in the incident. The 25 employees affected by the outbreak of fire have been assigned to alternative tasks in the company's other production plants.
Production at Bella-Veneet Oy's six other factories and at its sub-contractors remains unaffected and continues normally without interruption. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and its economic effects are being assessed.
At the beginning of August, a prototype/model/mould factory will be completed for the immediate start-up of mould production for the Falcon 26 and Bella 620 DC models. Simultaneously, the company will decide whether to repair the damaged production facilities at Leväsentie 1 or build a wholly new factory. The main objective is to commence production of the Falcon 26 and Bella 620 DC boats with the new moulds at the beginning of 2007.
